The heavy downpours in Tamil Nadu have forced the cancellation of eight flights at Chennai Airport, which were destined for Bengaluru, Andaman, New Delhi, and Muscat. The airport's operations were impacted by inclement weather, which caused the disruptions, according to an official statement.

Updates on flight cancellations

The following flights have been cancelled: a 7:05 a.m. Akasa Air flight from Bengaluru to Chennai, a 1 p.m. Akasa Air flight from Andaman, a 3:20 p.m. IndiGo aircraft from Delhi, and an early morning Oman Air flight from Muscat. Plus, four flights that were supposed to depart from Chennai were cancelled: one from Akasa Air to Andaman at 7:45 a.m., another from Akasa Air to Bengaluru at 1:40 p.m., one from Oman Air to Muscat at 8:40 a.m., and an IndiGo aircraft to Delhi in the evening.

Even though other flights at Chennai Airport are running regularly, passengers should still check with their airlines to be sure of their departure schedules and make any necessary adjustments to their travel arrangements in case anything changes.

Chennai, the capital of the state, has seen its everyday life severely interrupted by the torrential downpour that has caused waterlogging and gridlock. Tamil Nadu's chief minister, MK Stalin, convened a review conference with other important figures to assess the situation and make sure that necessary measures are followed. Chief Secretary N. Muruganandam met with relevant officials to help with the reaction to the current weather difficulties.
